ABOUT US

The "Towards Peace" project was launched in 2017, by a  group of volunteers associated with The Islamic Circle of north America (ICNA) Sisters Canada.
Our project’s foremost aim is to provide accurate information about Islam, the fastest growing religion today, practiced by over 1.6 billion people across the globe, and to make it easily accessible and available to everyone. In doing so, we hope to dispel prevailing stereotypes and persistent misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. Furthermore, to provide substantial information about the basic practices of our faith to new Muslims. Towards peace believes in building bridges and opening pathways of communication and cooperation  between Islam and other faith groups.
Some of our successful events and projects include:
  • "Know your Muslim Neighbour", an event organised by our volunteers in public libraries across the city , its primary objective is to reach out to community and public and address their concerns and queries related to Islam.
  • Billboards: We believe that  mass media is highly effective way to spread our peaceful message and reach the community.
  • YouTube campaigns, Radio campaigns : More instrumental elements of mass media that aid us in our effort to  dispel misconceptions and create awareness about this great faith.
  • Giving back to the community is a concept highly cherished in Islam as is charity, altruism, helping the less fortunate. Some of our projects supporting such a cause are:  executing food drives to help support  food banks, organizing cloth drives for the homeless in winter distributing food to the homeless and women shelters.
